This rural site sits on the outskirts of the town of Dollar in Clackmannanshire. It enjoys a mixed setting of forest, fields, rivers and expansive views of the Ochil Hills. Our clients want to build a large family home which would replace the existing, dated house currently on the site. The proposed design has a traditional form and uses a simple palette of materials – stone (re-used from the old house), timber, glass and slate. Internally, there is a much more contemporary feel, with large framed views and light, bright spaces. The property relates to its context and respects its surroundings, whilst also making the most of the views, available light, interesting connecting spaces and links to the outside. Currently at pre-planning stage, the clients have appointed Staran to undertake this as a full Design & Build project.
